I read the articles so you don’t have to. What are the wedding trends for 2023?

According to Vogue, couples are opting for weddings earlier in the day – possibly followed by a quick light lunch – then having all their guests rest through the afternoon so that when they reconvene in the evening when they are rested, recharged and fresh for the grand party/reception.

If your wedding is targeted for those in high society, Vogue claims you will want elaborate walk in aisles, oversized decorations and huge wedding cakes. Interestingly, matching bridal gowns is not as preferred as it used to be.

Outdoor weddings, in particular on mountain tops with great views, like we provide for you here at Simple I Do’s, is what’s in at the New York Post.

They also claim a move back to more traditional wedding dresses but with upscaled accessories in veils, capes and gloves. For the party, couples are hiring private chefs and having elaborate after dark affairs.

Pure Wow declares that “petite bouquets” made with “dainty blooms” are the rage this year as opposed to the overlarge extravagant bouquets that have recently been in style. In stark contrast, Bridal Musings says just the opposite – that bold and extravagant flowers are what chic couples are doing in 2023. For a better take on trends in wedding flower arrangements, check out the concepts at Budget Savvy Bride. In particular pay attention to their Garden Cut Bridal Bouquets.

Everybody wants to travel to far off locations for their posh wedding according to the inside knowledge at Insider magazine. (As if we didn’t know that already, right?) With air travel not as dependable as it has been in the past, an alternate that you may want to consider the beautiful mountains of North Carolina instead of Fiji. And if you really want to “keep up the the Kardashians” then you will elope this year just like Kim and Travis did. (Of course if you do choose to elope, you should do it with Simple I Do’s!)

Honestly, since so many of them contradict one another, you’ll probably get better advice these days from influencers on Tik Tok or Pinterest than from some fashion magazine. Bottom line, I think that you should do whatever you are personally inspired to do.

And since you didn’t ask, here’s what I would like to see in destination elopements this year. I know that no one really asked my opinion on the subject, but if you’ve read this far, then bear with me a moment…

1. An elopement with a bride in a Red Dress with a long flowing train on Black Balsam Knob with the wind blowing. Partner could be in black or white – although I would prefer white.

(The photo below was taken from Pinterest and is not my own. I do not know name of the creator in order to give attribution).

2. A cool Cosplay micro wedding with everyone in costume and make up complete with specific characters and roles. Especially if it’s your second wedding, why not spice it up a bit? Anyone want to channel Harry Potter? Marvel Comics? Disney Princeses?

Or just be a little non-conformist, and go full biker chic?

Or rock a period look, like this “roaring twenties” couple.

3. Finally, I’d love to do an elopement high up in the tree canopy on a zip line at Navitat in Barnardsville, NC. Go to their website and check them out.

If you have creative ideas beyond these, let me know. I’d love to hear your dreams for you destination elopement!
