Melanie Robertson

Officiant

I am the world’s greatest optimist. A lot of our couples come to Simple I Do’s and  they are taking another chance at love for the second or third time, and I love to celebrate the opportunity with them to finally find true love. I am an ordained minister who grew up here in Asheville – yes another native – or as we locals call it, Ashevegas, and I know that people come here to these Blue Ridge Mountains for refreshing and renewals. It is such a great place to make a fresh start. That’s why I love to officiate with Simple I Do’s. It’s like every couple becomes a part of my forever family.

Mark Robertson

Photographer, Officiant

I’m an incurable romantic. That’s why I love weddings, puppies and babies and, yes, I cry at movies – Disney movies! And since I am both an ordained minister and a professional photographer, I created Simple I Do’s because I truly love to share those special moments of love, joy and laughter with couples as they begin their life journey together! At Simple I Do’s, we strive to make sure that there is no drama for our couples because we want you to relax, have fun, and truly enjoy each moment that you are sharing during this special day.

Bio:

Mark and Melanie met in the spring of 1981 and were married the following year. In August of 2022 they celebrate their 40th anniversary. Advocates for marriage and sound parenting, they sometimes teach seminars on these subjects.

Melanie is a gifted art-educator, skilled potter, and ordained minister. She still loves to teach and is currently teaching an autistic adult in muliple art media. Semi-retired as a potter, she still creates and sells her own pots while teaching beginner to advanced pottery classes. Melanie is also semi-retired from ministry, but remains active volunteering and training young leaders.

Ministry and photography have long been passions for Mark. While ministry was his original career choice, his love of photography has paralled that in interest his entire life. At times employed full time as a photographer shooting families, children and more, he began to shoot weddings in 1997, and after retiring from ministry, married his passion for ministry and wedding photography into founding Simple I Do’s in early 2017. In the last 24 years, Mark estimates that he’s been involved in more than 1200 weddings both large and small. (Definitely prefers the latter.)
