Hurricane Helene Update
We, who live and work here in Asheville and all of Western North Carolina, have been dealt a tremendous blow. We have experienced devestation that is unheard of in scale and scope for this region. But now we face a second devastating blow, and that one is economic hardship – if people do not come and invest in our region. Our economy relies on tourism. We have some industry scattered here and there, but we depend heavily on tourism for our livelyhoods. And right now tourism has all but disappeared. In spite of warnings in the media and elsewhere, we need you to come and stay in our lodgings, eat in our restaurants, and hang out in our breweries. And those of us who are in the wedding business, need you to come and get married here. To that end, I have personally visited multiple sites to verify that they are available and accessible for elopement and micro wedding ceremonies. We offer both mountain view and waterfall settings. The towns near those sites are fully open for business. And much of Asheville, and its main attractions will be fully open soon including the Blue Ridge Parkway which has begun to reopen southern sections.
We have lost a lot, but when you come and invest in WNC that will help us survive as well as heal.
Thank you,
Mark Robertson – Owner Simple I Do’s

The Blue Ridge Mountains in Western North Carolina have some of the most beautiful and unique scenery in America east of the Mississippi River. Millions of visitors come to these mountains to:
- explore Asheville’s art scene,
- camp in the wilderness,
- hike thousands of mountain trails,
- kayak or float rivers,
- mountain or road bike,
- drive the Blue Ridge Parkway,
- ski in the winter snows,
- fly fish for trout,
- visit the Biltmore Estate,
- sample the many craft beers
And many thousands more come here to get married.
Located just 500 miles north of the Gulf of Mexico, the Blue Ridge Mountains have a very unique climate that is generally mild all year round. These mountains house one of only two temperate rain forests in the lower 48 states. That is why the greenery is so abundant and varied.
Many people come here to escape the summer heat or to avoid the excessive winter chill. Regardless of your reason to come, if you plan to have a wedding in the mountains, please read some of these blog posts to give you ideas of what to expect – especially if you are doing a destination elopement in these mountains:

Mark was the absolute best! My husband and I decided to elope in September after having 3 different wedding dates in 2020 and I’m so glad we did! The ceremony Mark prepared was perfect and so thoughtful. The memories that were made that day with the help of Mark are so unique and ones that we will hold in our hearts forever… Lastly, my husband and I can be a little awkward behind the camera and Mark made us both feel very comfortable and made it fun! The pictures he captured are impeccable and we will keep those memories with us forever Thank you Mark!
