The Maple Grove @ Smith Mill Creek will be opening in August, 2023 on an acre of mostly flat ( a miracle in Asheville) land that will have wonderful amenities for couples looking for unique venues for their elopements and micro weddings.

This venue will have outdoor event spaces designed by Mark, a wedding photographer with 25 years experience. Every aspect is designed with elements intended to give you multiple locations for beautiful portraits and an amazing experience.

The Maple Grove is named firstly for a grove of very old and majestic maple trees that create a cool and inviting space in the heat of summer. In the Maple Grove will be string lights, a Cinderella Gazebo and a moss dance floor. The gazebo will be absolutely gorgeous with hanging flower arrangements, flower sprays on the benches, lights and decorations!

In the summer, the Maple Grove is 10 – 15 degrees cooler than out in the direct sunlight. and in the fall, the leaves turn beautiful fall colors and blanket the ground. There is also a moss “dance floor” in the Maple Grove.

Micro weddings can be held on the lawns that will be available as well. Here is a “moon gate” arch we have covered with vines. Flower sprays may be added and it can be moved to any spot in the venue.

The venue also features The Tim Burton Spot. This natural feature is created by several Burdock trees which form a beautiful natural arch (which is somewhat heart-shaped) next to Smith Mill Creek. With string lights, lanterns and other features added, it can make a truly whimsical location for fantasy weddings or just incredible photo shoots.

The couple below did a little cosplay and dressed in black to look like zombies. It was so much fun!

One area on the property lended itslf to the creation of what will be our Japanese Garden. These take years to complete and mature, but many of the features will be in place when we open, like a pond, pagoda, the contemplation paths and plants. Three of the large boulders (representing islands rising from the sea) are shown below.

Brides have a large dressing area and lounge with a kitchen which can also be used for catering the reception. Grooms will have their own dressing room.

There is a large open patio for hosting receptions. In case of rain, couples may choose to rent a tent, but the large room may be used for the event and/or a reception with up to twenty people.
